about the song
"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" was written by Eric Idle of the British troupe Monty Python for their third movie,
Monty Python's Life of Brian. The group has stated that endings have always been their weakness, so Eric came up with song and dance number for the final crucifixion scene. Since
Life of Brian in 1979, this song has been used for numerous occasions, most famously for Graham Chapman's memorial service in 1989. Eric has then described it as one of the hardest things to do. It has also been widely used for football matches around the world. More recently, it has been adapated to stage for Idle's musical,
Spamalot and oratorio
Not the Messiah (He's a Very Naughty Boy).
lyrics
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And...always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.
And...always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the right side of life
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the bright side of life
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life
about fanlistings
A fanlisting is, quite simply, a listing of fans. Fanlistings are similar to any other group or club you might join. You can join a fanlisting to 'show your love of something.' Most fanlistings have small codes, buttons, or plaques available which you can display on your own website if you'd like. Our site definition of a fanlisting is: "A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are); they are just a place where you can sign up with other fans. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not official) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting the fans."
